Miracles FAST!

This particular Saint and his prayer has been a hot topic as of late. With people losing their jobs, money, houses, etc. Saint Expedite apparently is the one to pray to when you need something done FAST.

His history is somewhat muddled and he is not an official Catholic Saint, meaning that he is not canonized but is somewhat recognized but largely as a Folk Saint.
Heck, I don't care what his history is... If he can produce a miracle in record time (he has come through for me in the past), I'm all for it!

Here is a version of a prayer that is being circulated heavily at the moment:

"St. Expedite Prayer to Get Things Fast

Light a red candle in a glass jar. Place a Holy Card of St. Expedite on your altar and set a glass of water next to his image. Write your petition on a piece of paper and place it under the candle. Then, say the following prayer:

Saint Expedite, you lay in rest.
I come to you and ask that this wish be granted.

____________ (Express exactly what you want, a

And ask him to find a way to get it to you.)

Expedite now what I ask of you.

Expedite now what I want of you, this very second.

Don't waste another day.

Grant me what I ask for.

I know your power, I know you because of your work.

I know you can help me.

Do this for me and I will spread your name with love and honor

so that it will be invoked again and again.

Expedite this wish with speed, love, honor, and goodness.

Glory to you, Saint Expedite!

Recite the prayer once a day until your prayer is answered. Allow the candle to burn down. When your request is granted, pour the water into the empty glass candle holder, and place fresh cut flowers in the candle glass. When your request is granted, thank St. Expedite by offering him a piece of Sara Lee pound cake (In New Orleans we are rather adamant about this, but I have heard reports from others that using any brand of pound cake will do) and be sure to tell someone how he has helped you. If you do not thank him in this manner, he will take back your request and then some, so be sure to remember this step."

A dear friend of mine just lost her job today, so I immediately went to petitioning this Saint. Keep in mind he does not work for everyone, and he only gives what you NEED rather that what you want. Unless the two go hand in hand. In this case I feel that he will see this as just and hopefully grant my request.

Just recently I have found that he is particularly fond of Florida Water. I cannot keep enough of it on his altar... Even my Ancestor Altar doesnt go through as much as this guy! I have to top off his bowl 2 times a day but I have a soft spot for him so he can have all the Florida Water he likes :)

*Crosses Fingers* Hang tight Erika... Help is on the way!

    1. "and he only gives what you NEED rather that what you want."

Maybe that's the key to working with him. I have had little success, even when I have tried to bond with him. Maybe NOT having my petition answered IS a success, because I do not NEED what I have asked for (am I making any sense? LOL) Thanks for the fresh perspective.

    3. Glad you like the work, would be cool to get credit for it or a link to my blog as it is my most popular post http://conjureart.blogspot.com/2009/12/invoke-st-expedite-for-quick-results.html

  2. Well, since the work originated with me, and neither the St. Expedite group nor the person on Craiglist have permission to repost the work, I would appreciate those links removed in reference to that article. Otherwise you are supporting plagiarism.

The correct way to cite a work taken from a source other than your own would be something like this: Here is a cool work I found on Denise Alvarado's blog, On the Art of Conjure http://conjureart.blogspot.com/2009/12/invoke-st-expedite-for-quick-results.html

then post the excerpt. When borrowing ideas other than your own from books, you would paraphrase the portion you want to write about then enclose in parentheses after the idea the author's name and date of the publication from which it came. So for example, if that work were actually found in one of my books, you could also give the credit like this (Alvarado, 2011, p.211) after the excerpt. I added the page number in this case because the work is copied word for word.

Citing your sources will save you a lot of grief in the future. If you are one of Cat's students, she would tell you the same thing as she despises plagiarism more than anyone I know.

The above goes for photos and artwork too. While most artists prefer to be asked first, most will not make a big deal out of it if the source is cited. The correct (and legal) way to cite an artistic work or photograph would be to write the name of the work if it is given, then you indicate the kind of copyright it is followed by the artist/photographer's name and the year the work was created. If this information is not available, it is likely already stolen from the original creator...but if you use it, at least make note of the url from which it came. And at the end of your blog make note that you are unaware of the artist or photographer but would be happy to give credit if anyone can provide you with the information.

I hope this helps and that you take it to heart. Let me know if you have any questions.

  3. I appreciate the information but seeing as I did not get the information from your blog, that is why I included the web pages I got my information from. I did not try to take credit from anyone. Yes, I am one of Cat's students and I am not trying to support plagiarism of any kind, just showing where I got the information. I did not know of your web blog until you included it in your commentary, nor did I get the spell from there so that is why I did not take the links where I got my information from down.
Thank you for the information though, it is helpful.

  5. As you can see, I set mine up a little different as described... I liked it, so I went with it. Thanks for the input and information... LOTS to digest!

  6. You are missing the point. I write in my blog that it is a popular work. I did not write that it is my work, though perhaps the way I do it differs slightly from another. The issue is that it is taken word for word. That is plagiarism. If you want to share the work the way you were taught, fantastic! Go for it...but write it in your own words. And as I have stated, just because you find something written all over the place doesn't make it right or not plagiarized. It means it was stolen. All people have to do is write it in their own words. What is so hard to understand about that? I have been very nice about it I did not make a big deal out of it and shared some information that can be helpful to avoid future scenarios.
